Letrozol Farmoz indicated for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following antiestrogen therapy.
Letrozole reduces the amount of estrogen by blocking an enzyme (aromatase) involved in estrogen production and can therefore block the growth of breast cancer that needs estrogen to grow.
As a result, tumor cells slow or stop growth and / or spread to other parts of the body.
Letrozole is used to treat women with breast cancer who have entered the menopausal phase, i.e. after cessation of the menstrual period.
It is used to prevent the recurrence of breast cancer.
It can be used as initial treatment before breast surgery, if immediate surgical approach is not possible, can be used as initial treatment after breast surgery or after five years of tamoxifen treatment.
Letrozole is also used to prevent the breast tumor from progressing to other parts of the body in patients with advanced disease.
The recommended dose of Letrozole is 2.5 mg once a day.
No dose adjustment is required in elderly patients.
In patients with advanced or metastatic breast cancer, treatment with Letrozole should continue until tumor progression is evident.
Each vial contains: 30 units of letrozole, 2.5 mg per tablet.
